Give a gift from the heart

Tremendous interest in Appalachia since 20/20's "Children of the Mountains."

The ARH Foundation is appreciative of the spotlight that Diane Sawyer's "Hidden in America - Children of the Mountains" has shown on the difficulties faced by many of the citizen's of the Appalachian Mountains. The Foundation's website has received an enormous number of hits since the show aired on February 13, 2009 and we thank all of those who have offered assistance. As the largest healthcare not-for-profit in Central Appalachia, we feel compelled to help raise the awareness of the many economic and health disparities that many Americans do not realize still exist in our country.

Since our early beginnings as the Miners Memorial Hospital Association (MMHA), Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) has remained committed to our mission in the mountains. We offer advanced healthcare services close to home. We have never faltered in this commitment to quality and compassionate care regardless of a patient's ability to pay. In fact, each year our system provides millions of dollars in uncompensated care for the uninsured and underinsured. Appalachian Regional Healthcare in the past 12 months alone, has given $126 million of uncompensated care to the under and uninsured families in our region. Please view the ARH Foundation video to learn more ways to help improve the healthcare in the Mountains. [View Video]

The ARH Foundation wants to make it simple for you to make an investment in the future of healthcare in eastern Kentucky and southern West Virginia. That is why the Foundation offers a variety of donation options and fundable projects for your consideration. Many people believe that giving is only for the elite, but oftentimes the smallest of gifts can make the biggest impact. In addition, by including ARH as a beneficiary in your financial planning, you will not only improve the healthcare and economy of this region, but many of these gifts also provide you with a tax deduction and other financial benefits.

Johnie W. Mason - Beckley businessman

"You know you live in a great community
when you can acquire the training you need for an occupation in the medical field and have the opportunity to stay right here at home to put that knowledge to work. As the third-largest private employer in Raleigh County, Beckley ARH not only allows many of our local youth to stay and raise families here, but it also plays a huge role in attracting outside professionals and new companies that choose to locate, live, and further fuel our economy, making Raleigh County home sweet home."
